Welcome to the Gigolo Discotheque – the debut album from Dr C, a man having a midlife crisis with toytown tech.

An after hours bolt hole for the disgraced and insane, Gigolo Discotheque is where bung-happy Tories rub shoulders with free associating beat poets, faded pop stars and drowned royalty, where the only drinks served are a musty Muscadet and a dusty Dubonnet on ice. Lurking amid this human jungle are an exotic array of deluded animals – a penguin who’s convinced he’s David Bowie, a heron who’s been on the sauce, a herd of cows that swear blind they were humans before they were victims of a hex.

Colonel Gimp mans the Gigolo Discotheque’s decks, where beats from a Pocket Operator meet the cheapest of vintage synths and thrumming basslines stolen from lost 80s B-sides. Snotty-nosed punk, wheezy reggae, ham-fisted highlife and Fisher Price machine rock rule the roost, topped with a touch of Bach for a final waltz around its haunted dancefloor. Or is it? For the lights never come on and coats are never checked out…
